Idol on the Edge - Illustration Friday Entry
Illustration Friday Entry – “Shaky”
I am participating in Illustration Friday, an ongoing, theme-based artistic challenge. Each week hundreds of artists create or submit designs based on the theme. They create a piece of artwork based on that week’s theme.
This week’s theme, ending on Friday, July 10th, 2009 , is “Shaky.”
A chubby golden idol is in a shaky position. Someone has placed him too close to the edge of an ornate table–yet even the face of certain tumbling danger, he smiles playfully. Wait a minute–is he really on a shaky precipice, or is he about to step over the edge?
Original Chinese brush painting done on rice paper. I know, it’s kinda funny, goofy, weird, playful. I enjoyed painting it and loved his smile. I also think I’ve played Totem Destroyer too many times (it’s a cool physics game):

i guess the moral of the story is never put chubby golden idol to near the edge! your illo made me smile!
and thanks for dropping by
Wonderful concept and I love the idol’s expression!
Yes, I love his expression also. I just love the organic feel of this piece. I might have to try this type of painting soon. I really enjoy it when I come to your blog. Nice job Ren!
